Who makes it:  Lagier Ranches, in San Joaquin County, California

Why I love it:  These almonds are the chefs choice at many of the Bay Area's finest restaurants and I can see why.  They're buttery rich in flavor, toothsome at the bite and as fresh as can be.  The cool wet winters, mild springs and hot dry summers of the Northern San Joaquin Valley County are the perfect setting for growing almonds and Lagier Ranches produces some of the valley's best.

How I’ll use this in my kitchen:  I've been eager to make Dovetail's White Gazpacho Recipe - looks good, doesn't it! I often make Spanish style romesco sauce that I serve with lamb, pork and fish, or as a dip for a crudité.  This recipe for Roasted Almond Ice Cream is heavenly too, try it!  And, I love a good almond pudding or flan - or just as good, a rice or quinoa pudding, topped with roasted almonds and Sour Cherry Jam.  My last minute go-to appetizer just happens to be stuffed dates with blue cheese and almonds, wrapped in Prosciutto.
